Townships to enjoy moderation of land ceiling act in West Bengal

As per a special offer made to private builders, the state government of West Bengal would allow builders who build townships of over 50 acres to enjoy moderation of the existing land ceiling act.

Although, the moderation comes with a condition of the builders earmarking 25% of the land for economically weaker section and 25% for non-residential purposes such as hospitals, schools, parks and roads.

???Businesses in Bengal will grow with the interests of the poor fully protected and social obligations met. Our policies and transactions are very transparent,??? said Amit Mitra, Minister for Commerce and Industry, Finance and Excise, West Bengal.

The minister also stated that as part of its policy to promote green buildings, the state government would offer 10% more FAR on such projects. The same sop awaits the buildings constructed within 500 metres of metro rail projects.

Dr Mitra said the state government has turned its focus on Tier II and Tier III cities for development, where the next-level of projects would come up.
