To make property deals easy for businessmen and common people, the state government of Maharashtra has initiated a pilot project with Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) to issue building permissions online.
The project will be in operation from March 2017 onwards and will be implemented across all class D municipal corporations across the state.
Urban development department has taken up the responsibility to develop the software for online building permissions.
The new software will be updated as per the uniform development control rules (DC-rules). The implementation of online portal is in progress since September 2016.
Senior KMC official said, ???The manual process of issuing building permissions is time-consuming. There have been cases where constructions were done illegally. To avoid such cases, online building permissions are proposed at three municipal corporations as none class B, C or D has the facility.???
He added, ???After the software is installed in the server, anybody can access it. The developers need to put in the detail information of the layout plan along with the maps in the system. This will help the system to find out errors in the layout and developers can make necessary corrections. KMC is also planning to set up a separate cell for scrutinising the building proposals online. This cell will be having trained staffs from the town planning department.???
