Bhopal Smart City project gives top priority to govt housing

Construction of government housing facilities would be one of the first area based development (ADB) initiatives to be undertaken in smart city development of Bhopal. Two locations, one near TT Nagar stadium and the other near Dussehra Maidan, have been identified.

Core expenditure of smart city project in Bhopal is for an area based development of North TT Nagar. The 350-acre area development plan and tender for construction of government housing in the area is expected to be released soon. ???An agency has been appointed for soil testing of the respective areas. Construction of government housing facility would take off soon,??? said BSCDCL (Bhopal smart city development corp) CEO, Chandramauli Shukla.

BSCDCL is expected to come up with some 3,000 houses in the first phase. Another project funded by AMRUT would cater for some 2,500 homes, including some 30% for housing for poor.

Around 1600 government houses are marked for demolition in North TT Nagar, including around 270 houses, which are occupied by government employees. BMC will introduce the plan and policy on development.
