Special purpose vehicle approved for Dehradun smart city

Marking its entry into the smart city project, the Government of Uttarakhand has approved for a ??special purpose vehicle for Dehradun to be a Smart City Limited Company.

Garhwal commissioner would head the Dehradun Smart City Limited Company, which would have Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority VC, additional Secretary urban development, additional director of Urban Development and Commissioner Nagar Nigam as the Directors.

Urban Development Minister, Madan Kaushik pointed out that the urban bodies, Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) and Dehradun Municipal Corporation (DMC), ???will have a greater role to play in the city???s development.??? as both the entities will have equal stake in the city???s development.

A formal application to the state government will take place for delegating powers to the company.
