Ghaziabad secures INR 2241 crore for smart city project

Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) recently sent a budget of INR 2241 crore to the Union urban development ministry for competing in the fifth round of the mission. Earlier, Ghaziabad lost out in the first four rounds of selection.

According to GMC officials, the new proposal has been designed after taking into considerations the nine objections raised by the urban development ministry.

There are two components of the plan area-based development and pan-city solutions. The sum will be spent accordingly.

Sanjay Chauhan, Executive Engineer, GDA, said, ???The region ear-marked for area-based development in the city has been finalised at 1,056.5 acres. This roughly corresponds to the region located between Vaishali metro station and the CISF Road in Indirapuram. Infrastructure work including roads, 24X7 water supply, streetscaping, canal rejuvenation and landscaping will be undertaken in this area.???
He added, ???Special focus has been made under pan-city solutions to ensure last-mile connectivity for the existing and upcoming metro corridor.???
